Our calendar

THE GREGORIAN CALENDAR

The original Roman calendar is believed to have been a lunar calendar.
Months were:  hollow (29 days) or full (30 days).
Full months were considered powerful; hollow months were unlucky.

At some point of history dates of months ceased to be connected with lunar phases, but it is unknown when it happened.

The names of some months were named in honour of Roman gods

Roman writers attributed the original Roman calendar to Romulus
Romulus is believed to be the founder of Rome with his brother Remus. Sons of Rhea Silvia who conceives the twins by the god Mars, or by the demi-god Hercules

Numa Pompilius, the second of the seven traditional kings of Rome, reformed the calendar of Romulus around 713 BC. The Romans considered odd numbers to be lucky, so Numa made the numbers of days in a month 29 or 31.

The Julian calendar was a reform of the Roman calendar

The Gregorian calendar (by Pope Gregorio I) was a reform in 1582 to the Julian calendar.
The motivation for the reform was to bring the date for the celebration of Easter to the spring equinox

Easteris a Christian holiday wih origin in the Catholic church celebrating the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
BUT the date changes every year.
Easter is a catholic adaptation of the biblical passover of a Babylonian celebration dedicated to Ishtar (pronounced ‘Easter’)
Ishtar brought the god Tammuz back to life.

Tammuz- god of food and vegetation
Called Damuzid in sumerian
According to Summerian historical king list, Damudiz was the fifth King of Sumeria before the flood.
He also appears on Arabic literature from the 9th to the 11th century b.C.

The Bible doesn’t mention the celebration of Easter. But it does mention other gods, heroes and the worshiping of other gods:

That the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose. Genesis 6:2

In those days, and for some time after, giant Nephilites lived on the earth, for whenever the sons of God had intercourse with women, they gave birth to children who became the heroes and famous warriors of ancient times. Genesis 6:4

———————————————————————————————————
13 … and make no mention of the name of other gods, neither let it be heard out of thy mouth. Exodus 23:13
14 For thou shalt worship no other god: for the Lord, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God. Exodus 34:14
